1. You meet with the builder to spec out a new home and agree on the price. The lot may be buyer-owner, builder-owned, or obtained from a third party at closing.
2. You work with an Amerifirst loan officer to apply for a loan based on the appraised value of the finished home.
3. We’ll underwrite your loan just once, about a month before closing, saving you from the long-term scrutiny of your spending habits throughout the construction phase. Keep in mind that your credit quality, including debt-to-income ratio, must remain acceptable per program guidelines through the closing of your loan.
4. Since your Foundation First loan covers both construction and purchase costs, you can bypass the time-consuming process of applying for another mortgage and just get ready to move into your new home.
