KALAMAZOO, MI (March 18, 2021) - Amerifirst Home Mortgage Loan Officer Brad Chambliss was recognized this week as a top loan producer for 2020 by the Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), a state agency that helps families achieve affordable homeownership through cost-saving programs.

Chambliss placed 12th out of 638 loan officers who partner with KHC to help Kentuckians achieve the dream of homeownership through low-interest home loans, down payment assistance, and tax credit programs. He has worked with KHC for the past 15 years to help Kentucky residents maximize their homebuying resources.

Amerifirst Home Mortgage also ranks number 12 out of 108 KHC lending partners for total home loans originated in 2020.

“Programs that offer little or no down payment can get people into homes sometimes months, even years earlier, and that’s significant because the sooner they buy, the sooner they can start paying down their principal and start building equity in their home, which helps build personal wealth.”

According to the KHC website, 74 percent of the agency’s customers were first-time homebuyers last year.

“Many first-time homebuyers can afford monthly mortgage payments, but they struggle to come up with the funds needed for the down payment,” said Chambliss, branch manager of the Amerifirst Home Mortgage office in Elizabethtown, KY. “Programs that offer little or no down payment can get people into homes sometimes months, even years earlier, and that’s significant because the sooner they buy, the sooner they can start paying down their principal and start building equity in their home, which helps build personal wealth.”

Chambliss also holds the #2 spot among Loan Officers in helping his customers save money through the KHC’s Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) program. An MCC allows borrowers to credit 20% of their mortgage interest each year on federal taxes for the life of the mortgage, which can ultimately help them lower their housing costs.

“It’s an amazing tool to help make the transition to homeownership even more affordable,” he said.
