KALAMAZOO, MI (February 6, 2020) - Amerifirst Home Mortgage Co-Founder and Co-CEO Mark Jones received special recognition this week by the Mortgage Bankers Association for completing a two-year term as co-chair of its Independent Mortgage Bankers (IMB) Executive Council, a coalition of non-bank mortgage CEOs across the country.
Jones received the award at the MBA’s Independent Mortgage Bankers Conference held in New Orleans Feb 3 - 6. He currently serves as a member of the MBA’s 36-person board of directors where he represents the residential, commercial/multifamily and associate membership and helps set the strategic direction for MBA.
Jones was also one of five industry leaders who presented on the topic, “Managing Change in 2020” at the conference. He and his peers shared how they are positioning their companies to be competitive in the near- and long-term future and provided perspective on the opportunities and challenges IMBs may face in the year ahead, given market uncertainty, new entrants, and housing policy changes.
Amerifirst Home Mortgage was founded in 1983 by Jones and his partner David Gahm. Under their leadership, the business has grown from a single site in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to over 80 full-service locations across a dozen states and was named one of the “Fastest Growing Private Companies in America” by Inc. 5000 for six consecutive years. It consistently ranks as a top provider of home loans that provide home financing opportunities to low- and moderate-income individuals and families. In 2016 Jones and Gahm were named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneurs of the Year for Michigan and Northwest Ohio.
